Monks of Micklegate

Monks of Micklegate is an interactive exhibition housed in Holy Trinity Micklegate exploring the life and achievements of the Benedictine monks who between 1089 and 1535 created a remarkable community here.

One of the Priory's treasures, a thirteenth century Bestiary, now belongs to St John's College Oxford. It contains some 90 coloured illustrations amazing images of real and imagined animals. Enlarged copies of some of these vibrant images are displayed and explained in the exhibition.
